In the following lecture we will use the problem oriented approach to learn about the risk of infection in health care workers (HCW). To define the risk we need to know the risk of blood contaminated penetration injuries, the risk of infection from such injuries and the natural history of the three major agents which result in infection in HCWs.Finally we will learn basic terms in infectious disease.
