Food security, defined as "the access by all people at all times to enough food for an active healthy life", will differentially influence rural and urban areas. In areas of the world where men have migrated to cities to obtain paid employment, women have become the agricultural workers and are forced to make adjustments in farming practices due to labor shortages. In addition, lack of access to economic resources such as loans, influence women farmers ability to participate in the development of food security strategies.
