In Manitoba, health information
is obtained at the lowest possible level of aggregation allowing the "building"
of larger areas – moving up from postal codes to Manitoba’s 11 Regional
Health Authorities. The RATES macro is designed to calculate the rate of events per 1,000 in distinct sub-populations and adjusts for differences in those sub-populations. RATES reads both population files (the counts of individuals in a particular group or area) and data files. In addition to geographical comparisons, it can be used to compare area rates between two time periods (using the T2 statistic).13 |
