Radioactive
elements and compounds behave chemically exactly like their non-radioactive
forms. For example, radioactive lead has the same chemical properties as
non-radioactive lead. The public health protection question that EPA's
scientists must answer is: "How do we best manage all the hazards a
pollutant presents?"
