over amsel’s clinical diagnosis including:1)
a permanent record of the slide which can be
reviewed to assess the diagnosis of BV and the reliability of the diagnosis,
and 2) a grading or scoring system to be used to recognize intermediate
stages of BV. Gram staining is also more commonly used in epidemiologic
studies such as those preformed by the maternal-fetal medicine unit.
