Some databases
can be integrated to the same platform without compromising access or confidentiality
(particularly if their contents are not integrated): the Vaccinations register (VIVAS),
the Notifiable conditions system (NOCs) including the Excessive Lead database, the
Monitoring of Dangerous Drugs (MODDs) and Poisons Licensing systems and the two cancer
screening registers (breast screening =BSR and Pap screening PSR). In addition, three
major databases are at advanced stages of redevelopment: Notifiable Conditions,
Vaccinations register and BreastScreen register. In practice, various registries can be
at different stages of integration: The two women’s cancer screening registries for
example can be integrated at the business level; The Excessive Lead Database is fully
integrated with NOCs up to the database use level. On the other hand, the two communicable
disease databases could be at redevelopment stage and share platforms and their databases
hold compatible execution instructions but their contents are not linked. The Monitoring
of Dangerous Drugs database is at present only sharing hardware and network with other
major ones; its redevelopment is not complete yet but it is expected to use compatible
software and reference tables. |
