The azimuthal condition alone is not sufficient to completely determine a map projection. It requires two conditions. Here Craig’s idea - straight equidistant meridians - has been used to create an unconventional “azimuths-from” projection. Centered at the prime meridian and the equator. When centered off of the equator the parallels take on more complicated shapes. Alternate meridian spacings are possible.
