Of the 900 agents evaluated, IARC has categorized:
95 as Group 1, Carcinogenic to humans
66 as Group 2A: Probably carcinogenic to humans
241 as Group 2B: Possibly carcinogenic to humans
497 as Group 3: Not classifiable
1 as Group 4: Probably not carcinogenic to humans. Only one!
--So, about 400 of the 900 suspected agents that were evaluated, were found to be carcinogenic or probably or possibly carcinogenic to humans.
--These are not good odds.
--Given the high standards assigned to these kinds of evaluations – and given that there are about 100,000 synthetic chemicals in use today – we have a lot to worry about.

Wouldn’t it be easier to cure cancer?
