There are many unresolved issues, as the tribes will tell you, in the Repatriation arena….a few of which I have listed here.  (READ SLIDE).  It is important for public health professionals to at least be aware of the potential public health impact from exposure to tribal artifacts and to be informed of the complexity of identifying such exposures, evaluating them, and discussing them.  Various entities are currently working to address these issues, but in the meantime we must judiciously address potential health risks while vigilantly protecting the traditions of the tribes.
