The number of asthma deaths is relatively low.

 

In the United States, in 2003, there was 1.4 deaths per 100,000 population due to asthma.

 

By sex: Females had 1.6 asthma deaths per 100,000 population compared with 1.1 deaths per 100,000 population of males.

 

By race: Hispanics had 1.3 deaths per 100,000 population.  Asians had 1.7 deaths per 100,000 population. American Indians/Alaska natives had 2.0 deaths per 100,000 population. Blacks had 3.2 deaths per 100,000 population.  Whites had 1.2 deaths per 100,000 population.

 

By age: Adults (ages 18 and over) had 1.4 deaths per 100,000 population.  Children (ages 0-17) had 0.3 deaths per 100,000 population.
