Our recent study
“INTERLIPD” is an ancillary study of the INTERMAP. Mean levels of LDL cholesterol are lower in Japanese in Japan than Japanese Americans in Hawaii in both sexes (aged 40 to 59). Mean levels of fibrinogen are lower in Japanese men in Japan than Japanese American men in Hawaii despite of much higher prevalence of cigarette smoking in Japanese men in Japan than Japanese American men in Hawaii. In contrast to the levels of LDL and fibrinogen, the levels of HDL cholesterol are higher in Japanese in Japan than in Japanese American. |
