In the Division of
Diabetes Translation, we:
Work to define the
diabetes burden through the use of public health surveillance
Conduct applied
translational research
Develop and maintain 59
state-based diabetes prevention and control programs throughout the
United States and in 8 U.S. territories
Support the National
Diabetes Education Program, which isof course--a joint initiative
between CDC and NIH.
NDEP works to reduce the
morbidity and mortality associated with diabetes and its complications
by changing the way diabetes is treated
NDEP develops diabetes
education materials for high risk populations, including African
Americans, American Indian and Alaska Natives, Asian American and
Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latinos, and older adults, in particular.
Support the Native
Diabetes Wellness Program, which works with partners to reduce the
health disparities among American Indians and Alaska Natives
Recently, the Native
Diabetes Wellness Program collaborated with the Tribal Leaders Diabetes
Committee and the Indian Health Service Division of Diabetes Treatment
and Prevention to develop the Eagle Book series.
