When adjustment
for underascertainment is calculated using capture-recapture techniques the prevalence
estimates rise to those in the table. Thus the prevalence at age 9 is estimated to be nearer to 2 per 1000 live births than the previous reports of 1 to 1.5 per 1000. (See reading list at end of lecture) The rise in prevalence from age 3 to age 9 is 81% in observed values (previous slide) and 92% in adjusted values for impairment >40dB. |
