The psychosocial conditions, which increased the likelihood of poor physical health independently of structural conditions, included poor diet, a lack of social cohesion and social support, as well as participation in formal networks like professional groups. The importance of assessing the hierarchical structure of data, keeping individuals within their social contexts, was shown in comparing the results between logistic and multilevel models.
