Blinding method is
used to help eliminating differential bias. For example, in a double blind experiment,
neither the observer nor the subject knows whether active medicine or identical looking
placebo has been assigned. This procedure would assure that any bias that is present will
affect measurements equally in the active and placebo groups. Calibrating the
instrument, for mechanical or electrical instruments, one should do periodic
calibration using a gold standard. |
