Instantaneous
Exposure at any instant in time. Cumulative is the total accumulated dose of exposure in a certain time period. Average is the cumulative divided by total duration of exposure. Peak the highest level of exposure over a given time. Contact boundary for a target. (surface in space containing at least one exposure point) Contact zone of the agent which is the volume of the agent adjoining a contact boundary and concentration. (mass of the agent in a contact zone) Exposure to agents in the environment can be defined as any contact between a potentially harmful agent and a surface of the human body. But because it is rarely feasible to measure the actual contact, we usually use a surrogate to get an approximation of the true exposure level. |
