These interventions can reduce HIV infection rates
or reduce the incidence of behaviors known to increase risk of HIV transmission. These
include: voluntary counseling and testing, or VCT, which includes risk assessment,
development of a risk reduction plan and voluntary HIV testing; behavioral interventions
to reduce risk behavior; use of male or female condoms, either alone to provide protection
against both HIV and pregnancy or with another method of contraception; prevention and
treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. |
