Our last meeting started with Ms. Hend Fathy welcoming the attendees and the announcing the event organized by the Advisor’s offices on the occasion of the International Water Day, on the 22nd of March at the Small Theater.
The first presentation was entitled “100% Water“ by Anas Mahrous. He talked about the origins of water, its importance to living organisms as in the composition of body, digestion, etc. He then showed some negative attitudes in water consumption, diseases that polluted water can cause (like liver diseases, diarrhea and typhoid) and how local and regional authorities like Arab countries should unit and collaborate to preserve their water resources.
Then, we had the first episode of the “Balabna a7la“ show presented by Tarek Abbas and Sondos Ahmed. The episode theme was Taba; its history starting from the British colonization passing with its occupation after the defeat in 1967, then the 1973 victory and the negotiations to get it back until the raising of the Egyptian flag there in 1989. They also interviewed Eng. Ahmed Gad who talked about the natural resources of Taba; its natural reserves rich with rare species of birds, reptiles and mammals, its geography and its historical and cultural value.
After that, we had a short presentation about “Help Portrait” project presented by Ghadeer Farid. She gave a brief description about the project which was initiated by an American photographer to use photography to help the less fortunate people and how the project team in the Faculty of Arts developed the idea into using photography to raise funds to help develop slums and help people there. She welcomed the participation of anyone interested to join their team and contribute to this project.
