Digital Archiving in the Arab World
ABU DHABI, October 29-30
Welcome,
I’m delighted to welcome you all to the 2024 Digital Archiving in the Arab World conference. Our last gathering was in 2019, and although we planned to meet every two years, the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic made it difficult. However, our commitment to bringing together the best talents in archiving from across the Arab world has remained strong.
I’m especially proud that this event has been made possible by a team largely from the Arab world. Finding and bringing together these talented individuals wasn’t easy, but they have truly proven to be among the best in the world. I’m very grateful to each one of you for being here today.
This conference wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of the UAE, Sorbonne University of Abu Dhabi, and especially, our key sponsor, the Abu Dhabi National Library, whose support has been essential in making this event happen.
This conference is just the beginning. We hope to build a lasting community that works together to preserve our history, which will be a gift for future generations. Let’s continue this journey, not just during the conference, but in the years to come.
I hope you enjoy this conference as much as we enjoyed working on it.
