Airports
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina can arrange for a car and driver (limousine service) to meet travelers at the airport in either Alexandria or Cairo and take them to and from the hotel in Alexandria and back to the airport (or other location) at the end of the workshop. To obtain this assistance, you must notify Sonia Lee (sonialee@stanford.edu) or Nermine Toma (nermine.toma@bibalex.org) of your request and provide flight information by February 13.
Alexandria (ElNozha) Airport is about 4 miles away from the workshop hotel. The cost estimate is about $15 per way.
Borg El-Arab Airport is about 48 miles away from the workshop hotel. The cost estimate is about $20.
Cairo Airport is about 114 miles away from the workshop hotel. The cost estimate is about $50.
Meet and assist service at airport costs $ 3 /person (for group of 6-9 persons) and $4/person for fewer persons.
If you will be paying for your own expenses, please note that you CANNOT use a credit card to pay the driver. You must pay in cash in either US Dollars or Egyptian Pounds. However, Egyptian currency would be preferred. The exchange rate is about 5.73 LE = 1 US Dollar. You will need to meet the driver or Meet and Assist personnel at Baggage Claims. He/she will have a sign with your name on it.
