Pharaonic representation of the Ptolemaic Kings and Queens (Lecture)

Pharaonic representation of the Ptolemaic Kings and Queens (Lecture)

27-6-2013

Ancient Egyptian royal sculpture either statues or reliefs on the walls-temples or the tablets provides valuable information about the native art, its development and its influence on the Ptolemaic royal portraits. It enables a complete understanding of artistic features of the Pharaonic period and Ptolemaic era indicating the Egyptian and Greek characteristics in the royal portraits.

This  lecture is  focusing on the royal sculpture either in three dimensions namely statuary or in two dimensions labeled pictorial reliefs on the walls-Egyptian temples and the Egyptian stelae during the Pharaonic Period as it was this artistic base used later by the royal workshops throughout the Greco-Roman era.
