A citation is a formal reference to a book, article, website, or other published source that provides sufficient information to uniquely identify the work.
Citations play a crucial role in academic integrity by ensuring proper acknowledgment of original authors and ideas, thereby preventing plagiarism. Additionally, citations enhance research validation by enabling readers to trace sources, evaluate their credibility, and verify the accuracy of the presented information.
Citations demonstrate the types of sources you use and how you incorporate them into your work, allowing readers to evaluate your arguments more effectively. A proper citation includes enough information to help others easily find the original source. Failing to cite sources properly can result in plagiarism.
Plagiarism is the act of using someone else's work or ideas and presenting them as your own without proper credit. It violates copyright laws and academic integrity. Ethical research practices require that writers be acknowledged for their contributions. Failure to properly acknowledge sources, whether intentional or unintentional, constitutes plagiarism.
Recognizing the need for an Arabic manual of style and the lack of an existing reference, we were motivated to develop one that is tailored to the linguistic and cultural specifics of Arabic. We take pride in setting standards for Arabic bibliography and offering users a comprehensive and accessible manual, available in both digital and print formats. We aspire for our efforts to contribute meaningfully to researchers throughout Egypt and the Arabic-speaking world.
