Several health outcomes are associated with volcanic
eruptions. Most notably, respiratory illnesses are of particular concern following an
eruption. This may arise from the inhalation of toxic gases for persons close to the
volcano at the time of the eruption. Or, it may arise from the inhalation of ash from the
volcano. For individuals in close proximity to the volcano, some danger exists from lava
flows, or more likely mud flows. |
