Poverty is not just about money. Where everyone is poor, then women will be at even worse advantage. The education of women is the most important issue in improving health and welfare in poor countries. The evidence - viz. Kerala, is that even when a state is poor a literate population can cope better and achieve better health for all - in particular a literate female population will control fertility, educate children and manage better. |
