In 1981, the
appearance of AIDS marked the surprising resurgence of infectious diseases.
A great deal of early research on AIDS was done at the NIH in Bethesda, and

The global AIDS pandemic will also be one of the central challenges of the 21st century, and AIDS research has had applications for biodefense research and for the new respiratory disease SARS. |
