In addition to
conducting research, NIH has sponsored various training programs for young
scientists. One of these programs was first known as the "Clinical
Associates" training program to give physicians experience in the research
environment. This program was later expanded to "Research Associates" and
"Staff Associates" for training in basic research laboratories and science
administration. Senior scientists such as Drs. Earl and Thressa Stadtman,
both members of the National Academy of Sciences, have mentored a generation
of young scientists in rigorous research methods. Our website "The Stadtman
Way" explores their careers and mentoring activities. |
