Four main
points: 1. The health status of RFN people in Manitoba is much poorer than the comparative health status of all other Manitobans. 2. Although health status for every Tribal Council area is much poorer than that of all other Manitobans, there is a marked gradient of health status within these areas as well. Some of the southern Tribal Council areas have the poorest health status. 3. Higher physician visit rates and hospitalization rates for RFN compared to all other Manitobans reflect their poorer health status. But as noted earlier, other areas of concern are specifically related to specialist care. 4. Finally, preventive health measures - such as immunization, breastfeeding, and breast cancer screening rates - are lower for RFN people than for other Manitobans living in the same geographical area. |
