We chose to conduct our data analyses for males and females separately due to significant gender differences in client profiles, and because we hypothesized that there may be some differences by gender in the factors that predict program retention.

In assessing predictors of retention in care, we first examined Kaplan-Meier survival curves for each variable, and used the log-rank test to identify statistically significant differences in retention times across groups.
