Plotting the
adjusted figures by age the graph shows the systematic rise in prevalence with age until a
plateau is reached at around the age of 9. Previous research reported that the plateau of 1-1.5 per 1000 live births is reached by the age of 5 as shown by the red lines. Two hypotheses might explain this result. |
