Introduction Ricardo Ocaņa-Riola is a professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Andalusian School of Public Health. He holds a PhD in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Barcelone and a MSc in Epidemiology and Clinical Research from the University of Granada. During the last years he has conducted different research projects related to Cancer Epidemiolgy. Note from the author Nowadays, cancer is one of the major Public Health problems world-wide. According to the data published by the Spanish National Institute for Statistics, cancer is the second leading cause of death among the Spanish adult population and the first one among children over one year (if childhood accidents are not taken into account) [1]. This is the main reason that aroused my interest on Cancer Epidemiology. |
