The highest incidence rates for females world-wide are those of New Zealand’s non Maori population, the majority of whom are of European origin [5]. Different case-control studies have confirmed the important role of skin phenotype. Risk for melanoma has been associated with several indicators of fair coloring and with an ethnic background related to historically lighter pigmented populations. Blue eyes colour, blonde hair, fair complexion, tendency to sunburn and intermittent sun exposure have been detected as important factors associated with a greatest risk of Cutaneous Malignant Melanoma [15-17; 19]. |
