Every home and business should have a tornado safety plan in advance

Persons who live in mobile homes should especially have a pre determined shelter site, and leave the mobile home immediately

The data shows that television broadcasts are very effective in reaching a majority of the population in the path of the tornado. It was reported that some people had as much as 30 minutes advanced warning. However, individuals should heed the warnings.

We can estimate that about 37% of persons in the OCMSA have access to or knowledge of the locations of shelters. Since we spend a lot of time in tornado alley, we should have a goal to increase this proportion.

Also, since we know that most people will take shelter in their homes if not in a storm shelter, we could probably improve building codes to address this natural disaster potential, similar to the way that California addresses the potential for earthquakes in their building codes.
