2. In spite of the clear need for evidence to support or to answer clinical questions, we, as clinicians, fail to get such evidence. Can busy clinicians have enough time to read the overwhelming amount of publication and biomedical literature to keep up-to-date? In the field of internal medicine, it was estimated that a busy clinician would need to read 19 original articles per day, 365 days per year, just to keep up-to-date with the literature in his own field.
