In a survey, conducted at Grand Rounds at various United Kingdom Hospitals, a researcher has found that, among senior Consultants, up to 40% of them would not have done any reading in the previous week, prior to the survey, compared to up to 75% of Interns, having done no reading in the previous week, prior to the survey. It is ironic that the Interns who need the teaching do not do their own reading, and the senior staff, who are supposed to be teaching them, are not doing it either.
