Now we will look to the members for the
Pediatrics Intensive Care list, each one at their own site for interaction by
computer.
Each one could be at some thousand miles of distance from the other members, but this doesn’t matter when it deals with keeping a discussion list through e-mail… But a SERVER is always needed –one more time the client-server platform- and by this turn it deals with a DISCUSSION LIST SERVER or commonly named as LISTSERVER (showed central to the slide), which could be by thousand miles from all the members computers. You would take note that the LISTSERVER shown doesn’t have any people nearby… since normally a LISTSERVER could be controlled by distance, through orders sent by e-mail directed to a special address. The LISTSERVER takes those orders and processes them. That one who has direct access to a LISTSERVER usually is the ADMINISTRATOR, since the MODERATOR could be away from the LISTSERVER as any other SUBSCRIBER.
