Autopsy findings in anaphylaxis vary from widespread severe pathological findings of pulmonary edema, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, myocardial infarction and severe head and neck angioedema to no pathologic signs. There may be pulmonary hyperinflation, tissue eosinophilia and elevated serum tryptase. The findings observed depend upon the organ system involved, severity of the reaction and time from onset to death. |
