I hope that these few examples of NIDDK-funded
research convey the vigor and progress of our many research efforts. While
it is not possible to list every initiative or program the Institute
supports, I believe that the integrated and complementary research and
education programs I have outlined illustrate how the Institute, and the
NIH, seek to address the serious public health burdens facing the U.S.
today.
