The US has a long history of measuring immunization coverage on the national level. This slide summarizes the US Census Bureau efforts to measure immunization coverage from 1957 to 1985. The US Immunization Survey was limited in its ability to generate sub national coverage estimates and the overall validity of survey data due to potential bias resulting from respondent recall.
