A good knowledge
of the organisation will inform the Manager of those areas where there is the capacity to
do more work, to cope with extra pressures and on the contrary where the service is
already at breaking point and staff morale is low. Resources will need to be directed accordingly and extra management effort expended. Most people want to do a good job most of the time. They need to be encouraged and praised , not criticised and blamed. A poor performance may be the result, not of laziness or incompetenece but of illness or family problems. Additional training and redirection may make the disgruntled and poorly performing worker into someone productive, interested and hard working for if a person is pushed beyond their capabilities their performance will fall off. The keen, hungry and hard working person needs reward with praise, money and promotion. |
