We call that
maternal constitutional factors. By that we mean genetic things, environmental exposures,
or behavioral situations were brought in and that those two interplayed. Finally, there
are probably specific changes in pregnancy that make women more sensitive to certain
insults. We know, for example, that inflammatory responses are turned on in normal
pregnancies. The bottom line is that there’s some sort of interaction and the mother
contributes important things resulting in reduced perfusion and making her sick. |
