About the Forum

 
Topics & Themes
The Fifth International Forum of "History of Writings, Calligraphies, and Inscriptions in the World throughout the Ages is traditionally open to all areas concerning the following themes, and its goal is to seek for research papers focusing on the writings and inscriptions in the cities and deserts of North Africa. However, the contributions are organized on a series of major themes:
1 - Writings and Inscriptions in the Egyptian-Libyan Desert
Documentation, publishing, surveying of the:  
  • Ancient Egyptian inscriptions. (Including Coptic inscriptions).
  •  Arabic and Turkish inscriptions.
  •  The Greek and Roman inscriptions.
  • Libyco-Berber inscriptions.
  • Quarry symbols.
  • Petroglyphs/rock art.
2- Writings and Inscriptions in the Sahara (Western and Central parts: Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania)
Documentation, publishing, surveying of the:
  • Arabic and Turkish inscriptions.
  • Greek and Roman inscriptions.
  •  Libyco-Berber inscriptions.
  •  Quarry symbols.
  • Petroglyphs/rock art.
3- The Use of Modern Technologies in the Recording and Restoration of Writings and Inscriptions in the Cities and the Deserts of North Africa through:
  • Modern technologies and methods of recording the writings and inscriptions in the desert.
  • Modern technologies and methods of restoration of the writings and inscriptions in the desert.
The presented paper should depend on the recent studies of newly discovered inscriptions and writings.

Language of Abstracts:
We are receiving all abstracts in Arabic, English or French Languages.

Deadline for Abstracts:
  • 25 February- 30 April: Receiving papers.
  • 15 May: Announcement of the accepted papers.
  • 30 August: Preliminary full papers submission.

CV of Participants:
All the participants of the Fifth International Forum of "History of Writings, Calligraphies, and Inscriptions in the World throughout the Ages" are kindly requested to send a short CV (half page).

Accommodation of the Participants:
Accommodation of the participants will not be covered by BA.

Symposium Halls
The symposium sessions will be held in Two of the BA Conference Center halls; the 'Lectures Hall' (270 seats) and 'Small Theater' (242 seats).
