A training/consultation workshop on Microscience Experiments took place from the 5th to 8th of July 2010 at Sudan University for Science and Technology, Khartoum in order to adapt the Microscience methodology to the Sudanese curricula.

Around 40 participants including secondary school teachers, curriculum planners, representatives of different ministries and other national stakeholders attended the workshop. The participants selected experiments from UNESCO’s learning and teaching materials suitable for their curricula.

The Global Microscience Experiment Project is a hands-on science education project that gives primary and secondary school students ( in some countries university students as well) the opportunity to conduct practical work in physics, chemistry and biology, using kits that come with booklets describing possible scientific experiments.

The main objectives of the Project are to promote practical science experimentation and capacity building for science education, to improve science curricula by inclusion of hands-on experimentation for a better understanding of science and to increase the interest of young people in science so as to promote gender equality, scientific literacy and the choice of a scientific career.

This training/consultation workshop was supported by UNESCO Headquarters, UNESCO Khartoum’s office, the Sudanese National Commission and ISESCO. It was organized in cooperation with the Sudan University for Science and Technology.
