In the framework of the program Support to Cultural Diversity and Creativity in Egypt, co-funded by the European Union and orchestrated by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), the latter organizes a series of events and workshops for young people, entitled "Creativity Youth Forums" and hosted by the Bayt Al-Sinnari Center for Science, Culture and Arts in district of Sayeda Zeinab, Cairo.
The Creativity Youth Forums aim to connect young people from different governorates and build their capacity to work together in promotion of cultural heritage. These Forums give young people the chance to participate in various workshops focused on different themes including Photography, Graphic Design, Literature, Painting and Film-making.
Practical Information
The Creativity Youth Forum is an initiative organized by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
- The official language of the Creativity Youth Forums is Arabic.
- Applications are open for participants from the ages of 18 to 34.
- Participation in the Forum is possible after filling an application and succeeding in the application process.
- Qualified participants of the Forum are provided accommodation during the event.
- Successful candidates are contacted individually by the organizers.
- All Creativity Youth Forums are held at Bayt Al-Sinnari Center for Science, Arts and Culture.
Criteria for Participation
- The Bibliotheca Alexandrina encourages the participation of young women and men aged 18-34 years of from all governorates in Egypt.
- All applicants must be Egyptian citizens.
- Participants should demonstrate an interest and previous experience in the fields covered by the workshops through the questions and answers section in the application form.
- Participants maybe asked to conduct interviews with the media.
- Applicants should submit works or certificates demonstrating previous experience in the fields covered in the workshops. Workshop instructors also participate in the selection of applicants based on these works.
- Family members and relatives of the staff working in the organization responsible for the selection are not eligible to apply.
- Participants must fill the application form and email it to Bayt.AlSinnari@bibalex.org together with:
- A copy of their National Identification Card
- Any other relevant document that they deemed useful in supporting their application.
The Application deadline for the "3rd Creativity Youth Forum" was on the 20th of September, 2014.
The 3rd Creativity Youth Forum Schedule – September 28th - 30th 2014.
Day 1:
11:00 – 14:00: General introduction about the Creative Writing (its history - its importance).
15:00 – 18:00: General introduction about the Novel writing (models of world literature from Egypt and other Arab countries).
18:00 – 19:00: Working on a brief research paper provided about the elements that have been addressed in lectures.
Day 2:
11:00 – 14:00: Exploring different ways to think and talk about characters in novels.
15:00 – 18:00: Developing dialogue for meaning and resonance, breaking down chapters choose titles of novel.
18:00 – 19:00: Working on a brief research paper provided about the elements that have been addressed in lectures.
Day 3:
11:00 – 14:00: Interpreting literary meaning in novels, understanding tone and mood in writing.
15:00 – 17:00: Publishing your writing, working with literary agencies.
17:00 – 18:00: Working on a brief research paper provided about the elements that have been addressed in lectures.
