The 5th Creativity Youth Forum - "The Art of Filmmaking (Digital Animation)"

Within the framework of the program Support Cultural Diversity and Creativity in Egypt, a project co-funded by the European Union and orchestrated by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the latter organizes a project for young people entitled "Creativity Youth Forum" and hosted by Bayt Al-Sinnari; Center for Science, Culture and Arts in district of Sayeda Zeinab, Cairo.

The Creativity Youth Forums aim to connect young people from different governorates and build their capacity to work together in promotion of cultural heritage. These Forums give young people the chance to participate in various workshops focused on different themes including Photography, Graphic Design, Literature, Painting and Film-making.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina organizes its fifth Youth Forum between 17 – 19 February 2015, under the theme of “The Art of Filmmaking (Digital Animation)".

Practical Information

• The Creativity Youth Forum is an initiative organized by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in collaboration with the EU Commission in Cairo.
• The official language of the Creativity Youth Forums is Arabic.
• Applications are open for participants from the ages of 18 to 34.
• Participation in the Forum is possible after filling the application and succeeding in the application process. (The Application deadline for the 5^th Youth Forum is 14 February  2015).
• Selected participants of the Forum will be provided accommodation during the event.
• Successful candidates will be contacted individually by the organizers.
• All Creativity Youth Forums are held at the Bayt Al-Sinnari Centre for Science, Arts and Culture.

Criteria for Participation

• The Bibliotheca Alexandrina encourages the participation of young women and men aged 18-34 years of from all governorates in Egypt.
• All applicants must be Egyptian citizens.
• Participants should demonstrate an interest and previous experience in the fields covered by the workshops (in the case of the 5^th Youth Forum, applicants should have experience and previous knowledge about animation or graphic design, and the desire to develop themselves in the field).
• Participants may be asked to conduct interviews with the media.
• Applicants should submit works or certificates demonstrating previous experience in the fields covered in the workshops. Workshop instructors will participate in the selection of applicants based on these works.
• Family members and relatives of the staff working in the organization responsible for the selection are not eligible to apply.
• For the 5^th Youth Forum, it is recommended for the participants to bring their own laptop.
• In order to apply, participants must fill the application form and email it to Bayt.AlSinnari@bibalex.org together with:

• A copy of the applicant’s valid National Identification Card.
• A copy of the applicant’s CV.
• Any other relevant document the applicant deems useful in supporting their application.

The 5^th Creativity Youth Forum Schedule, 17 – 19 February, 2015
"The Art of Filmmaking (Digital Animation)"

Day 1:
11:00 – 15:00:  An overview of the animation industry (Concept - Storyboard - Wallpaper design -
                         Animation - Installation of the film - the film montage).
16:00 – 19:00: Practical Work: Choosing the idea of the film (the story) - Visualizing characters.

Day 2:   
11:00 – 15:00: Storyboard, which include: (Building the film characters - Wallpaper design).

16:00 – 19:00:  Animating the characters and merging them with Wallpapers.

Day 3:       
11:00 – 15:00:  Installation of scenes - Sorting scenes - Adding sound.
16:00 – 18:00:  Showing the final output (the film).
