The Bibliotheca Alexandrina is pleased to announce The First BA Regional Workshop on the Epidemiology of Diabetes & Other Non-Communicable Diseases. This is a joint event between the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) and the WHO Collaborating Centre in Pittsburgh and supported by the World Diabetes Foundation. This workshop is part of a bigger project at the BA; Diabetes Supercourse for the MENA Region.
The training course will be held from 5-13 January 2009 at the BA, Egypt. The course will discuss the different non-communicable diseases we face today and the various research tools and prevention strategies necessary to stand up against this alarming epidemic. We will be addressing general topics like basic biostatistics and epidemiology principles, and more specific ones like health inequities, obesity, complications of diabetes, smoking, and many more. Participants will have a morning didactic course then in the afternoon they will have the opportunity to work in smaller groups with their trainers. This workshop aims to assist young scientists, researchers and health care professionals with the tools that will in turn, aid them in their various fields to find innovative new strategies for the prevention and control of many non-communicable diseases.
