Children's Library Services
The Children's Library covers a surface of 565m2, and includes a reading hall, TV corner, computer lab, storytelling and puppet-show theater as well as an artistic and handicrafts corner.
Sun - Thu, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, and from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

For regular visitors or first time visitors to the library, we would like to welcome you at our reference desk, located directly in the entrance of the Children's Library. You will find our staff who are able to:

- Direct you to different areas of the library.
- Provide you with information on library services, collections, policies and procedures.
- Show you how to use the library catalogue, where you can look through all of our collection from books, CDs and video tapes. It is classified according to the Dewey decimal classification system.

- Keep you up-to-date with the latest information.
- Help you to find information on the internet.
- Discuss your information needs.
- Explain library card rules.
- Explain library circulation polices.
We are pleased to offer you computer stations with Internet links to lots of popular sites. Just sign up for one of the computer workstations available at the computer lab and access various fun-sites and explore thousands of links useful for your school projects and homework.
Summer and Mid-year Program
After a long tiring year full of studying, come and join us in our special programs and activities, we organize an entertaining , cultural program in order to help you to spend a fun time during your vacation.
The Reading Area is the core of the library, so we offer the children a special Reading Area program during mid-year and summer vacations. The children are divided into groups according to their age, listen and interact with the teacher about different topics, read together and have fun through competitions, quizzes and crafts.
The Children's Library helps parents by organizing different lectures for them given by specialists in different fields, thus helping them understand their children's needs, attitude, and how to maintain it.
The Children's Library offers a program for babies and preschoolers. The program is based on the American Program, "Mother Goose on the Loose", and the Library has implemented this program in English and Arabic. The program comprises 11 sessions, spread over a month and a half. It includes 10 sessions which include songs, storytelling, puppet shows and dancing shows in English and Arabic. This program aims to introduce early learning for children aged 1 day to 3 years, and develop their reading, listening, and learning skills. For this program, the librarian uses books, music, movement, repetition and positive enforcement, developmental advice, rhyme, illustrations, puppets, musical instruments, and colored scarves.
The Children's Library conducts some visits to schools, hospitals, and organizations-concerned with children, of course-in-coordination with the Ministry of Education and any other bodies which supervise these organizations, in order to spread library culture through the "My Book: Digital and Printed" visit, storytelling activities, "Book Talks" visit, art programs and science programs.

The Children's Library organizes the Annual Schools' Competition between schools in Alexandria (Arabic, English, and French & German schools). Students are asked to do a research, presentation or play according to the theme chosen by the Children's Library. Teachers are requested to assist and guide students.
