Rabies is an
important disease to consider and animal bites with a rabies risk are
relatively common amongst travelers to developing countries. It is important
to provide exposure immunization in these cases, however pre-exposure
immunization may need to be considered in those at high risk going to remote
areas. Robert Steffen’s chart of prevalence of various travel related diseases and events can be found in Steffen R, DuPont HL. Travel Medicine: What’s that? J Travel Med 1994; 1: 1-3. |
