Epidemiology has
some hidden strengths to complement its more obvious ones. In providing a
set of methods for identifying and confronting threats to our collective
health and safety, epidemiologists firmly belong at the forefront of public
health training. However, epidemiology can also enhance our general
education in ways that Fraser so eloquently expounded in the New England
Journal of Medicine. This capacity also becomes patently evident when
one becomes familiar with its fascinating history. |
