In this example a Clinician identifies three objectives:

1) In R & D where the task is to develop a protocol in the hospital for the best care of HIV patients during surgery.

It will be necessary to do a literature search and hold a workshop with the key clinicians.

It is hoped that an agreed protocol will be ready within 6 months.

2) Administrative-to see the new Permanent Secretary for Health and make the Civil servant and in turn the Minister aware of the particular difficulties this hospital faces, the possible solutions and the implications for budgets, waiting lists and education. This should be achieved within 3 months.

3) To write an MRSA policy for the Hospital. This will require setting up a Working Group, chairing it and proceeding to an agreed written document within 6 months.
