The First International Workshop on Natural Language Processing Using Universal Networking Language (UNL)

Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosted the 1th International Workshop on Natural Language Processing Using Universal Networking Language (UNL). The workshop comes under the theme “Breaking down Language Barriers”.

The goal of this workshop was to give adequate knowledge of the Universal Networking Language (UNL), and to provide a forum for linguists and IT professionals to exchange comprehensive views on the recent developments in Natural Language Processing technology. The workshop also discussed methods to promote and develop the UNL program as a communication platform that aims to enable people to share information and knowledge in their native language.

It also aimed at promoting international cooperation in related fields, advocating universal language-independent access to information and enhancing the global impact of the UNL program.
Furthermore, this workshop created an appropriate environment for all UNL language centers worldwide to exchange ideas, experiences, and in-depth knowledge about the Universal Networking Language program. The workshop also included closed meetings for the UNL Society in which each language center reported its achievements and progress, and discussed with other centers the obstacles faced during the development phases.
